DGL Consulting Engineers, LLC is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Roadway Department. The role focuses on civil design tasks, drainage, and cost estimates, with opportunities to lead and coordinate with clients and junior staff.

Qualifications include 4-8 years in civil design engineering, a civil engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, and potential PE licensure within 6 months. Overtime may be required based on project workload.

Responsibilities

• Assist roadway team with plan preparation, design detailing, drainage calculations and reports, bid documents and cost estimates
• Design tasks may include pavement design, horizontal and vertical design, closed and open drainage system design and BMP design, quantity and construction cost determination
• Involvement in client meetings, responses to RFI’s and assisting in proposal preparation
• Assist with the oversight of entry level engineers and budgeting of work tasks
• Assists with calculations, record keeping
• Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
• Communicate with leaders for understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers on project requirements
• Applies design standards, standard drawings, and CAD requirements for DOT and local agencies
• Engage in periodic industry events and related marketing activities

POSITION INFORMATION

DGL is looking for a Civil Engineer to enhance the capabilities and qualifications of our Roadway Department. As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require an individual to use prescribed methods, standard techniques and practices to perform various engineering assignments. Our goal is to provide an environment for engineering professionals to learn, grow and master necessary skills to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

• 4-8 years of previous experience in civil design engineering

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist roadway team with production duties such as plan preparation, design detailing, drainage calculations and reports, bid documents and cost estimates
• Design tasks may include pavement design, horizontal and vertical design, closed and open drainage system design and BMP design, quantity and construction cost determination
• Involvement in client meetings, responses to RFI’s and assisting in proposal preparation

SKILL SET

• Experience with applicable computer software (Open Roads Designer, ProjectWise, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam)
• Design and plan preparation experience based on DOT and other municipality’s specifications and preferred standards
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work and balance priorities amongst multiple projects
• Outgoing, self-motivated, collaborative team player
• Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals
• Professional demeanor
• Overtime hours may also be requested dependent on project workloads and submittal deadlines

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification with the ability to obtain PE License within 6 months
