Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking multiple Transportation Engineers to support design and construction engineering in the Project Engineering Office. You will help develop plans, specifications, estimates, and other documents to ensure safety and quality of the state’s transportation system.

Responsibilities include field data collection, contractor oversight, and coordination with field staff.

Qualifications

• Engineering Principles and Technical Analysis demonstrated by applying concepts to analyze data and resolve issues.
• Transportation Engineering Application: applying engineering concepts to transportation projects.
• Engineering Software and Computer Applications: proficiency in CAD/engineering design tools.
• Communication and Collaboration: clear written and verbal communication with contractors, designers, and public.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports, contract plans, and engineers' estimates for highway improvement projects.
• Develop design documentation using CAD software for design and right-of-way plan sheets.
• Analyze field data to determine quantities, elevations, coordinates, and grades.
• Evaluate designs using traffic, hydraulics, environmental constraints, and standards.
• Assist with project records, estimates, final records, and as-built plans.
• Inspect highway construction activities to ensure contract compliance.
