Job Title

Transportation Engineer III/IV/V – PDO PS&E Section – Dallas

Position Overview

The Dallas District Project Delivery Office (PDO) PS&E Section is seeking Transportation Engineers to manage and develop the District's diverse PS&E project portfolio. Candidates will oversee projects from schematic through final design submittals, ROW coordination, utility coordination, and construction permit preparation, ensuring effective consultant contract management.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced and complex transportation engineering design work across multiple functional areas including planning, project development, design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, and research.
  • Review and process plans, specifications, estimates, and construction documents; monitor consultant progress and quality, and verify invoices.
  • Represent the district at technical meetings, public hearings, and presentations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to sub‑consultants and support staff, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science. Higher degrees accepted by Texas PELS.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license; ability to operate a state vehicle.
  • Professional Engineer licensing in another U.S. state (non‑Texas) is acceptable if license obtained in Texas within six months of hire.
Experience
  • Transportation Engineer III – 6 years of engineering or transportation experience; graduate coursework may substitute one year of experience per year of education.
  • Transportation Engineer IV – 7 years of engineering or transportation experience; substitution logic as above.
  • Transportation Engineer V – 8 years of engineering or transportation experience; substitution logic as above.
Physical and Working Conditions
  • Primarily sedentary work, requiring lifting up to 10 lbs occasionally.
  • Pre‑employment physical and drug screening required; drug testing follows DOT regulations.
Employment Details
  • Full‑time, day shift (M–F, 8 hr/day).
  • Location: Dallas District Headquarters, 4777 E Highway 80, Mesquite, TX 75150.
