Job summary

HNTB Corporation is seeking a Transportation Engineer III to support design calculations, reports, and plans for highway projects in West Virginia. The role collaborates with project managers and other disciplines to ensure timely, accurate engineering deliverables.

You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to quality control, while utilizing MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and MS Office in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master/PhD with fewer years.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design tools (MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer).
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, geometry and algebra.

Responsibilities

• Develop design calculations, reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with the project manager and other disciplines to support project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced staff and review work.
• Perform quality control reviews of discipline deliverables and assist with scheduling.

This position works closely with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback.
