Role Description

The Transportation Engineer 4 is a full-time, on-site role located in Chillicothe, OH. This role leads and performs advanced transportation engineering tasks, including the planning, design, and review of highway and roadway projects in accordance with state and federal standards. Daily responsibilities may include developing and evaluating project plans, preparing technical reports, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and providing engineering guidance to junior staff. The position also involves analyzing traffic operations, monitoring project progress, ensuring compliance with safety and design regulations, and supporting construction activities through technical oversight. The Transportation Engineer 4 contributes to strategic transportation initiatives that improve system performance, safety, and long-term infrastructure reliability.

Qualifications
  • Ohio Professional Engineer License.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; advanced degree in transportation or civil engineering is beneficial.
  • Strong foundation in Transportation Engineering, with experience applying engineering principles to complex roadway and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Highway Design and Roadway Design, including geometric design, alignment, and adherence to state and federal design standards.
  • Experience in Traffic Engineering, such as traffic operations analysis, safety studies, and signal or traffic control design.
  • Skills in Transportation Planning, including corridor studies, project prioritization, and integration of long-range transportation goals.
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering and design software (e.g., CAD platforms, traffic analysis tools) and familiarity with ODOT or similar standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and provide leadership or mentorship to engineering staff.
