Could you be the full-time hybrid Highway/Transportation Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA, US we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your highway and transportation engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.
You'll contribute to the development of world-class transit systems by designing and scoping effective interfaces and system alignments for mass transit technologies, impacting global transportation infrastructure. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (multi-disciplinary engineers, project teams, suppliers, consultants, and contractors), participate in detailed alignment design reviews, and assist with inspection, testing, and installation activities at project sites—and much more.
We’ll look to you for:
- Developing horizontal alignments with crossovers, switches, spiral and curved geometry, vertical alignments, and graphically graded crossings.
- Participating and assisting with preparing system-level and detailed alignment design reviews.
- Collaborating with the Systems engineering group to develop optimized system alignments and simulations.
- Preparing bids, proposals, design drawings, specifications, and criteria for system alignments and vehicle clearance envelopes.
- Preparing scope, drawings, details, design calculations, and reference materials to establish and maintain baseline alignment designs and vehicle clearance envelopes.
- Effectively prioritizing tasks across multiple projects and proposals while adhering to allocated budgets and defined schedules.
- Building and maintaining working relationships with clients, their technical representatives, internal and external engineers, project engineers, construction teams, and project managers.
- Assisting with inspection, testing, and installation activities at project sites.
- Exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and teamwork.
- Demonstrating self-motivation, adaptability to changes, and the ability to work independently or within integrated, cross-functional teams in a dynamic project environment.

- Degree in Highway, Transportation, or Civil Engineering.
- Experience or understanding of highway, rail, or bridge engineering.
- Knowledge of Bentley suite of engineering products (OpenRail, OpenRoads, Microstation).
- Familiarity with preparing bids, proposals, design drawings, and specifications.
- Professional Engineer certification or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and adapt to changes within a project milestone environment.
- Experience in construction installation activities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently or in a team.
