Job summary

Ardurra is seeking a Transportation Engineer in our Memphis, TN office to contribute to roadway/transportation design for local projects. You will help deliver plans, specs, and estimates while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with engineers and clients.

The role requires a Civil or Transportation Engineering degree, the ability to obtain a PE license, and 4–8 years of experience. Proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and MS Office is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead roadway design tasks including geometry, plans, specs, and estimates.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure design intent and standards compliance.
  • Develop contract plans and prepare technical specifications and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate project scope, schedule, and budget; supervise engineers and technicians.
  • Perform quality control on design outputs; review calculations and drawings.
  • Support marketing and business development efforts.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, and sub consultants.

Job description

Ardurra is seeking a Transportation Engineer in our Memphis, TN office!

We are looking for an engineer with interest and experience in roadway/transportation design to support a wide range of local transportation and DOT projects. Projects will include but are not limited to minor and major/complex roadways and multimodal facilities and will offer the opportunity to mentor and guide junior staff and be mentored by some of the top local experts in the transportation industry.

Primary Function

This is an opportunity to play an important role in delivering a variety of transportation-related design projects, developing contract plans, specifications, and estimates for construction. This role will support the entire project design delivery process and will be responsible for leading engineering design tasks pertaining to roadway geometric design, production of plans, and writing of technical reports and documents.

Primary Duties
  • Performs process design of multi-discipline transportation engineering projects, including evaluating alternatives, conducting engineering studies and design calculations, and performing preliminary and detailed design
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with design intent, project scope, and state and federal design criteria and standards
  • Develops contract plans and prepares technical specifications and cost estimates
  • Assists with project execution and delivery including development of project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities and coordination of engineers, designers, and technicians as assigned to a specific project
  • Perform quality control on engineering work products including design calculations, models, drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates
  • Assist with marketing and business development efforts
  • Effectively communicate/coordinate with internal and external partners/stakeholders including clients, discipline leads, sub consultants, regulatory agencies, and utility companies
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or related field
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 4-8 years of engineering experience in transportation/roadway design
  • Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer with the ability to train and supervise the technical work of engineers, designers, and technicians
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Experience preparing final design plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, time management and organizational skills
