Job summary

Gresham Smith, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Utility Engineer in Knoxville, TN. In this full-time hybrid position, you will perform engineering tasks related to distribution and transmission line projects and design utility relocation plans. You should have strong knowledge of NESC requirements, extensive experience in high voltage utility design, and a relevant engineering degree. Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) requirements.
• Experience with power utilization equipment including switchgear, protective relays, breakers, transformers, motors, and generators.
• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform distribution and transmission line engineering for high voltage line projects.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables for electric distribution and transmission projects.
• Design utility relocation plans for highway construction projects.

Skills

Detailed knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)

Experience with power utilization equipment

Computer‑Aided Drafting experience

Strong written and oral communication skills

Experience in high voltage overhead and underground electrical utility distribution

Ability to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) license

Experience in the utility industry

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
