Job summary

Recover-Care Heartland in Marysville, KS seeks a patient transport specialist to safely move patients and staff between locations. You will operate service-location vehicles, assist passengers on and off, and ensure secure arrivals.

Must hold a valid driver's license, CNA certification, CPR, and pass state-required TB testing plus annual safety training. Strong communication and a compassionate, safety-minded approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Current driver’s license in good standing.
• Commercial driver’s license (if required).
• Must read/write/speak English to ensure safety and patient care.
• Provide TB test verification as required by state law.
• Annual Wheelchair Lift Safety Training Class.
• CPR certification is required.
• CNA certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicles safely when transporting patients, residents, members, and/or employees.
• Assists passengers when boarding and disembarking.
• Ensures safe arrival to destination.
• Maintains route and mileage logs per policy.
• Monitors vehicle safety, fuel, and fluids.
• Reports vehicle problems to Administrator immediately.
• Ensures passengers follow safety procedures including seat belts.
• Interacts positively with patients, residents, and families.
• Schedules vehicles for routine maintenance and moves appointments.
• Performs other duties as requested.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Safely transport patients, residents, members, and/or employees to and from the service location during approved activities during approved activities to pre-determined destinations.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• 1. Operates the service location’s vehicles in a safe manner when transporting patients, residents, members, and/or employees;
• 2. Assists patients, residents, members and/or employees when boarding and disembarking the vehicles;
• 3. Ascertains safe arrival to the destination;
• 4. Maintains route and mileage logs in accordance with Company policy;
• 5. Monitors routine vehicle safety conditions including fuel and vital fluid levels in accordance with Company policy;
• 6. Reports any vehicle problems or maintenance needs to the Administrator immediately;
• 7. Makes certain that all vehicle passengers follow safety procedures, including fastening seat belts, prior to moving the van;
• 8. Interacts in a positive manner with patients, residents, members and families as a representative of the service location;
• 9. Scheduled vehicles for routine maintenance as needed
• 10. Scheduling and moving appointments
• 11. Performs other duties as requested.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1.Current driver’s license in good standing.
• 2.Commercial driver’s license (if required).
• 3.This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
• 4.Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy. TSTs will be administered at the work site if required.
