Active Day in Campbellsville, KY is seeking Drivers – Adult Day Center / Shuttle Driver Special Needs. You will be the first and last Active Day employee that members interact with daily, ensuring safe transport and compassionate service to seniors and adults with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 21 years of age with 1 year of driver experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and state credentials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to mentor others.
  • Able to multi-task and manage priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and GPS/routing software.
  • Prior experience with seniors/adults with disabilities preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with on/off-boarding.
  • Able to pass DOT physicals and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow maintenance and fueling schedules.
  • Share best practices with co-workers to accommodate member needs.
  • Assist members with on- and off-boarding and ensure safety.
  • Deliver information to family members as requested.
  • Maintain knowledge of transport laws and guidelines.
  • Develop efficient routes and ensure timely transport.
  • Maintain vehicle records and secure company property.
  • Assist with licensing and registrations of vehicles.
  • Communicate professionally with members, families, and partners.
  • Support transportation coordinator and center director to improve efficiency.
  • Supervise drivers and provide training.
  • Follow safety and regulatory standards; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Our Drivers have a unique role in that they are the first and last Active Day employee that our members interact with each day. In addition to successfully executing the responsibilities of a Driver, the Lead Driver trains and mentors other Drivers, develops and assigns routes, ensures fleet vehicles are in safe operating condition, and maintains related records and reports. Lead drivers are expected to lead by example - maintaining a positive attitude; being a thoughtful, supportive, productive and dependable co-worker; keeping our members safe; and always working to enhance the health and happiness of the people we serve and those who care for them.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 21 years of age with a minimum of one year of experience working as a driver.
  • Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to teach and mentor others.
  • Able to multi-task and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel), and GPS/routing softwarepreferred.
  • Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds; able to routinely andrepeatedly exit and enter the vehicle to assist members with on- and off-boarding.
  • Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) exam.
  • Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing and any otherstate-specific requirements.
  • Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
  • Where applicable, certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Passenger Assisted Safety &
  • Sensitivity (PASS) are required and will be facilitated as part of job training.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow prescribed maintenance and fueling schedule;confirm wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are operating properly. Resolve mechanicalor safety concerns and repair or service needs as they occur. Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
  • Routinely exchange recommendations and insight with co-workers to ensure best practices foraccommodating unique needs of members during on-boarding, off-boarding and transport.
  • Assist members with on- and off-boarding and any special needs during transport. Confirmmembers are securely fastened in vehicle and transport in a timely manner.
  • Deliver information to family members as requested.
  • Maintain current and working knowledge of state, federal, and regulatory laws and guidelinesrelated to passenger transport.
  • Assist with developing efficient, scheduled routes and oversee safe transport of all members ina timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining vehicle information, including route, mileage, fuel and service records;secure company property, including vehicles, phones and fuel cards.
  • Assist with licensing and registration of vehicles as needed.
  • Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and theirfamilies, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
  • Assist transportation coordinator, where applicable, and/or center director in identifying andimplementing operational efficiencies to enhance the member experience.
  • Supervise drivers, providing job-related training in accordance with standard operatingprocedures, feedback & coaching.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time.
