Job summary

Active Day in Beachwood, OH seeks a dedicated Driver to operate mobility buses and assist members with on- and off-boarding, ensuring safe and timely transport to centers and appointments.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, maintaining records, assisting with special needs, and communicating professionally with members, families and staff. Eligible candidates should be 21+, hold a valid license, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Training for certifications may be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 21.

• Prior experience as a driver is preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license and state/vehicle credentials.
• Experience working with seniors or adults with special needs preferred.
• Able to work a flexible schedule.
• Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to pass DOT physical exams.
• Pass background check, motor vehicle report and drug testing.
• Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and PASS certification may be required and provided during training.

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow maintenance and fueling schedule; confirm wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are operating properly.
• Routinely exchange recommendations and insight with coworkers to ensure best practices for accommodating unique needs of members during on-boarding, off-boarding and transport.
• Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with any special needs during transport. Confirm members are securely fastened in vehicle and transport in a timely manner.
• Maintain vehicle information, including route, mileage, fuel and service records.
• Maintain and secure company property, including vehicle, phone and fuel cards.
• Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
• Deliver information to family members as requested.
• Report issues, concerns or unusual occurrences to the lead driver, transportation coordinator or center director.
• Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
• Assist transportation coordinator and/or center director in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies to enhance the member experience.
• Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time.

JobSummary

Our Drivers are the first and last Active Day employee that our members interact with each day. Drivers operate and maintain mobility buses, providing safe, courteous on- and off-boarding assistance, and timely transport to and from our centers. Drivers escort members door-to-door in all weather conditions, provide transportation for field trips, take members to medical appointments, and run errands for the center. All team members are expected to lead by example, maintaining a positive attitude; being a thoughtful, supportive, productive and dependable co- worker; keeping our members safe; and always working to enhance the health and happiness of the people we serve and those who care for them.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow prescribed maintenance and fueling schedule; confirm wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are operating properly. Notify supervisor of mechanical or safety concerns and report repair or service needs as they occur. Maintain vehicle cleanliness.


• Routinely exchange recommendations and insight with coworkers to ensure best practices for accommodating unique needs of members during on-boarding, off-boarding and transport.


• Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with any special needs during transport. Confirm members are securely fastened in vehicle and transport in a timely manner.

• Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing and any otherstate-specific requirements.


• Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.


• Where applicable, certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Passenger Assisted Safety &Sensitivity (PASS) are required and will be facilitated as part of job training.
