Job summary

BKF Engineers is hiring a Transportation Design Engineer for our Bay Area offices. You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team from concept through construction documentation on transportation projects including roadways and public infrastructure.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a California E.I.T. certification are strong assets, with a proactive mindset and eagerness to learn. 1–3 years of experience and ABET-accredited education are expected.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program required.
• 1–3 years of site development and design experience desirable.
• EIT or FE certification preferred; strong teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform geometric calculations for transportation design projects.
• Conduct hydraulics calculations to support drainage design.
• Create grading plans using CAD tools and integrate with drawings.
• Develop and refine design documents using CAD systems.
• Gather data from public agencies to support planning and permitting.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure design accuracy and goals alignment.
• Review plans for completeness and compliance with standards.
