Transportation Coordinator, Temporary (6 Months)

This is a 6 month temporary assignment supporting SMA America’s Transportation team with Large Scale project shipments, from import through delivery to site. The assignment is employed through AppleOne and is ideal for candidates with hands on experience coordinating freight, carriers and shipment tracking.

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

The temporary Transportation Coordinator provides front line support to SMA America’s Transportation Analysts and Transportation Manager, moving Large Scale project shipments from import through delivery to customer sites across North America. The assignment covers entering and tracking shipments, keeping rates and transit times accurate in the Transportation Management System, and serving as the link between customers, carriers and third party logistics partners. The assignment is remote and requires availability during the Transportation team’s core business hours.

SCOPE OF WORK

• Enter shipments into the Transportation Management System, TMS.
• Track and trace shipments in transit and resolve issues as they occur.
• Coordinate Large Scale project shipments from import through delivery to site.
• Support complex shipments and projects as assigned by the Transportation team.
• Maintain accurate records of items transported between locations.
• Report on delivery timelines and any delays.
• Act as the liaison between customers and carriers to keep shipments on schedule.
• Support maintenance of the TMS, including rates and transit times.
• Support customs related activities as needed.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of the assignment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a coordination or administrative role.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high pressure environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus.
• Residence within the continental United States, with the ability to work core business hours consistently for the full assignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in a transportation or logistics department.
• Experience with SAP or a Transportation Management System.
• Experience working with freight carriers, imports or customs.
• Creative thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

• Hourly pay rate: $25.00.
• Assignment length: about 6 months, full time.
• Employer of record: AppleOne. Pay, timekeeping and any benefits are provided through AppleOne under its policies.
• Work model: remote, continental U.S. candidates only.
• Onboarding: completion of AppleOne’s background check and drug screen is required before the assignment begins.
• This is a temporary assignment and does not include an offer of permanent employment with SMA America.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis. Visa sponsorship is not available for this assignment, including H-1B, OPT, CPT or TN visas. Candidates who currently require or will in the future require visa sponsorship, or who are operating under a temporary work permit or any visa tied employment authorization, are not eligible. This assignment is open to candidates located within the continental United States only.
