SUMMARY

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and supporting inbound and outbound transportation activities across VSE’s five distribution sites. This role serves as a central point of contact for shipment visibility, exception management, expedited transportation coordination, claims processing, and transportation‑related issue resolution. Working closely with Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, Compliance, and transportation providers, the Traffic Coordinator helps ensure the timely movement of aircraft parts and components, including critical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) shipments, while maintaining accurate transportation records and providing exceptional internal customer support.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments across all locations, proactively identifying and resolving delays, service failures, delivery exceptions, and other transportation issues.
  • Coordinate with carriers and internal stakeholders to investigate shipment discrepancies, provide status updates, and ensure timely resolution of transportation‑related concerns.
  • Serve as the primary transportation support resource for Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse Operations, and Customer Service teams across all sites.
  • Respond to shipment inquiries, provide tracking and proof‑of‑delivery information, communicate service disruptions, and escalate critical issues as needed.
  • Research, prepare, and submit package research requests, loss and damage claims, and billing disputes related to carrier service or invoicing errors.
  • Maintain documentation, track claim and dispute status, and follow through to resolution and recovery.
  • Support routine, expedited, and AOG shipments by coordinating transportation activities, monitoring critical deliveries, and ensuring shipment information is accurately maintained.
  • Develop and maintain transportation reports and dashboards that provide visibility into shipments in transit, delivery performance, claims activity, and transportation exceptions.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records and support management with reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of transportation documentation and shipping requirements, identifying situations that require Compliance Department review for shipment release.
  • Coordinate with Compliance personnel when regulatory guidance, approvals, or specialized documentation is needed and ensure transportation records are maintained in accordance with company procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, customer service, or a related operational role.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, distribution, manufacturing, or warehouse operations.
OTHER
  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
