Job summary

CDR Maguire Inc. seeks Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors for the Greater Pittsburgh area for the 2027 construction season. The TCIS will coordinate with contractors, engineers, and job superintendents on plans, specs, materials, equipment, safety, and construction methods.

Responsibilities include daily progress reports, cost and quantity tracking, and supervising inspectors as needed. Must hold a BS in Civil Engineering and multiple industry certifications, with OSHA 10-Hour

Qualifications

• BS Civil Engineering required or equivalent.
• NICET Level 2+ in Transportation/Highway Construction.
• NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
• PennDOT/PTC CDS certification.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification.
• Reading and interpreting plans and specs.
• Basic math calculations for length, area, and volume.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with contract documents by the contractor.
• Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.
• Check materials conform to contract documents.
• Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.
• Prepare and submit daily progress reports.
• Maintain documentation of quantities and costs.
• Travel as required for the role.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Operate computers and standard office equipment.
• Occasionally perform manual labor and work in adverse weather.

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors for projects around the Greater Pittsburgh area for upcoming 2027 Construction season.

The Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor (TCIS) is responsible for consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. The TCIS prepares daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommends payment. TCIS may supervise a staff of inspectors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
• Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.
• Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.
• Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.
• Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Follow and convey instructions.
• Utilize computers and common office equipment.
• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
• React to hazardous warnings and signals.
• Infrequently perform manual labor.
• Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.
• Limited exposure to chemicals.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
• Provide positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
• Other duties which may be required which are commensurate with the position.

High school diploma, GED, or post secondary education and can read, write, and communicate in English and do basic math computations for length, area, and volume.

BS Civil Engineering

NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction

NECEPT Bituminous field certification

ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification

PennDOT/PTC CDS certification

ECMS experience

OSHA 10-Hour certification
