Job summary

JMT in Allentown, PA is seeking qualified Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors to oversee highway, bridge, and related infrastructure projects for PennDOT in District 5-0. The role focuses on field inspection, safety, and conformance to plans and codes.

Ideal candidates possess NICET Level 2+ in transportation highway construction and 4+ years of inspection experience, with active driver’s license and ability to pass JMT’s vehicle screening. Supervisory capability is preferred.

Qualifications

• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation Highway Construction.
• NECEPT- Bituminous Field Technician.
• PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite).
• Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
• 4+ years of Transportation, Highway or Bridge Construction Inspection Experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods for compliance and safety.
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans and standards.
• Oversee and schedule inspection staff across all project phases.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures.
• Draft project correspondence and facilitate project meetings.
• Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
• Maintain project records and interact with stakeholders.

JMT’s Allentown, PA Construction Management Team is seeking qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects within the PennDOT's District 5-0 region (Lehigh, Berks, Carbon, Monroe, and Schuylkill Counties). The successful candidate will supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of our clients (primarily PennDOT) for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
• Oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
• Makes field notes and computations
• Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
• Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
• Gathers and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
• Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Required Skills

• Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge Role
• Computer proficiency
• Current Client Requested Certifications, including:
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation Highway Construction
• NECEPT- Bituminous Field Technician
• PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)

Required License And/or Certifications

• Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle

Required Experience

• At a minimum, the candidate must meet the PennDOT Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor Level I criteria
• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 4+ years of Transportation, Highway or Bridge Construction Inspection Experience

Preferred Experience

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering
• Supervisory experience in construction management or inspection projects
• CDS V-3 and/or ECMS Wave 5 certification or experience

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
