Jacobs in Portland, Oregon seeks an entry-level Transportation Construction Engineer to work on large-scale infrastructure and transportation projects. You’ll apply construction inspection and design knowledge across field and office tasks, with guidance and opportunities to grow.

The role supports on-site QA, documentation, safety and client coordination in a hybrid work setting. The position requires a civil engineering degree, 2+ years of relevant experience, and the ability to obtain EIT

Qualifications

• Willing to travel to Oregon and SW Washington sites.
• Able to work day, night or swing shifts.
• Independently coordinate meetings and field reviews.

Based in Portland, Oregon you’ll have the chance to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects and utilize your construction inspection and design expertise to work on transportation related projects. You’ll work with the best Engineers and Project Managers in the business, as well as gain experience working directly with our clients and their construction contractors. You will solve a range of straightforward problems; analyze possible solutions using standard procedures. You will receive a moderate level of guidance and direction performing a range of mainly straightforward design assignments as well as onsite construction quality assurance, project safety, project documentation and field inspection duties. We want you to be empowered to deliver the boldest solutions for everyday living and deliver projects for our clients.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Civil Engineering
• At least 2 years of previous engineering design and geometrics experience
• At least 2 years of Construction Management and/or Inspection experience
• Ability to obtain the EIT within 1 year
• Ability to obtain the ODOT ADA and General Inspection Certifications
• Valid Drivers License with good driving history
• Ability to travel to construction project sites in Oregon and SW Washington under per diem for inspection duties during the construction season
• Able and willing to work day, night or swing shift schedules
• Ability to work independently and coordinate meetings and field reviews as needed
• Ability to be in the Portland Oregon Office during the off season to assist with transportation project design

Ideally, you’ll also have

• EIT or Professional Engineering License
• Prior experience on local, state and/or federal design and construction projects
• Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (Microstation/Inroads/Open Roads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D)
• Experience with various transportation design including horizontal and vertical alignments, and developing other roadways components incorporated into a set of construction plans
• Familiarity with State and Federal ADA requirements
• Project Management support and coordination from design through construction
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Familiarity with roadway construction inspection, plan reading, and project documentation
• ODOT ADA and General Inspector Certification

The base salary range for this position is $62,500.00 to $90,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
