Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced engineer in Memphis, TN, to coordinate projects that ensure safe and efficient transportation systems. You will manage project execution from initiation to close-out, ensuring deliverables stay on budget and schedule.

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, have 5 years of relevant experience, and possess a professional engineering license. Candidates with PMP certification and MS Office experience are preferred.

As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you will help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, and community quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's life cycle (from development and initiation to close‑out) under the supervision of a Project Manager.
• Manage many aspects of a small project or a single aspect of a larger project.
• Coordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and schedule.
• Work with the Project Manager, Accounting, Operational, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification.
• Ability to work on project/client site.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
• Experience with MS Office and MS Project (Access experience is a plus).
• Attitude and commitment to being an active participant in an employee‑owned culture.

Primary: United States – Tennessee – Memphis. Other locations: Knoxville, Brentwood, Jackson, Chattanooga, Nashville.
