Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Transportation and Systems Analyst to optimize routing, data integrity, and transportation performance across Retail Distribution Centers.

You will collaborate with dispatchers, transportation managers, and divisions to streamline operations and improve service levels. This role requires a Bachelor's in a related field and 3+ years in dispatch or freight; strong SQL/Excel skills; knowledge of routing software and PeopleNet is a plus; you must read and write

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain/Logistics, Transportation, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in dispatching, freight management/brokerage, or process engineering.
  • Knowledge of routing software is a plus; PeopleNet knowledge a plus.
  • Solid working knowledge of data management tools, including SQL, Access, and Excel; proficient with Word and Outlook.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English at a professional level for job tasks and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Complete static, cyclical, and seasonal routing using routing software.
  • Create baseline data and full routing complement to Dispatchers and Transportation Managers.
  • Provide divisional support and technical assistance for transportation systems.
  • Develop summarized reports and conduct analysis of transportation performance for executives.
  • Analyze and summarize transportation data to assess plan vs actual performance.
  • Continually improve routing to reduce miles, improve ETA, and reduce workload in the department.
  • Support rolling asset tracking system and timely reporting to improve driver delivery efficiency.
  • Provide transportation systems support, best practices, metrics, and reporting.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Leads the inventory management process and inventory data accuracy throughout the Retail Distribution Centers, which includes receiving, shipping, returns, and cycle count process. Creates policies and procedures for the management of inventory and the consistent implementation and execution throughout all Retail divisions. Collaborates with Division Controllers and all other personnel responsible to execute inventory management procedures at the distribution centers. Implements and maintains effective processes to analyze Key Performance Indicators that identify areas of improvement and proactive identification of deviations from inventory management procedures. Collaborates with cross-functional teams at home office or divisions (Distribution Centers) in the development of new operational and system capabilities related to inventory management procedures to achieve inventory accuracy and reduce inventory losses. Works collaboratively with divisions (Distribution Centers) in the implementation of new inventory processes and systems to achieve reliable inventory accuracy. Provides analytical reviews and summaries of critical data used in making decisions, which impact the overall management of inventory at the Retail Divisions. Assesses procedures to ensure effective financial reserves for obsolete inventory throughout Retail divisions. Provides training to teammates at Retail divisions to enable consistent execution of inventory processes, policies, and procedures.

What you'll do as a Transportation and Systems Analyst:
  • Complete static, cyclical, and seasonal routing using provided routing software.
  • Create baseline data and full routing complement to Dispatchers and Transportation Managers using routing software.
  • Provide divisional support and technical assistance for transportation systems, including but not limited to user updates, data management, and system maintenance.
  • Develop summarized reports and conduct analysis of transportation performance to key executives throughout the company.
  • Analyze and summarize transportation systems software data and routing software data to assess expected and actual performance to plan.
  • Continually improve the routing process to reduce miles, improve customer estimated times of arrival, and reduce the overall workload within the department.
  • Work with key executives and Transportation department personnel to properly use a rolling asset tracking system and provide timely reporting and data analysis to improve a truck driver's ability to deliver product in an efficient manner.
  • Provide transportation systems support, best practices, metrics, and reporting.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications you'll bring as a Transportation and Systems Analyst:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain/Logistics, Transportation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in dispatching, freight management/brokerage, or process engineering.
  • Knowledge of routing software is a plus.
  • Understanding of fleet tracking software PeopleNet knowledge a plus.
  • Solid working knowledge of data management tools, including databases and spreadsheets particularly SQL, Access, and Excel; be functional with other Microsoft Office programs Word, Outlook).
  • Be able to provide 24-7 transportation systems support.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
