Job summary

The Transportation Analyst - 1st Shift (Hybrid) at GXO Logistics, Inc. blends in-office collaboration with remote planning to optimize transportation operations using our Transportation Management System.

1st Shift Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Hybrid role: 3 days in office and 2 days working from home.

The Transportation Analyst is responsible for planning, optimizing, and executing transportation activities within the Transportation Management System (TMS). This role serves as a key transportation planner and primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, carriers, and brokers to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and service-focused transportation solutions.

As a part of the GXO team, you’ll have a starring role in helping us continue to provide daily freight solutions to our global customers.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
  • Work creatively with IT and Operations teams to design and develop logistics plans utilizing transportation data, operational expertise, and carrier relationships to support load planning, routing decisions, carrier selection, shipment execution, service performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Handle domestic and international shipments; maintain associated documentation, including reporting development and analysis
  • Create, implement and enforce transportation and logistics policies
  • Handle and complete special projects as needed
What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or military experience
  • 1 year of experience in the field of global logistics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

It’d be great if you also have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, freight brokerage, or transportation operations
  • Knowledge of all modes of domestic and international transportation, including an understanding of comparative differences between various modes and the effects of those differences
  • Understanding of TMS, WMS and manifesting software as it relates to logistics applications
  • Thorough knowledge of common logistics-related documentation, including bill of lading, standard claims forms, MSDS, commercial invoice, Shipper’s Letter of Instruction, export filing, etc.
  • Understanding of concepts that affect transportation costs and transit times, seasonal capacity, air/ocean, transit time requirements, freight handling characteristics, priority/expedited, etc.
