Job summary

Mad River Local Schools is seeking a Transportation Aide to support daily pupil transport with routes that begin early in the morning and end in the afternoon. The position is 4.5 hours per day with an emphasis on safety, communication, and assisting students, including those with special needs.

The starting salary is $17.95 per hour. Candidates must have a high school diploma, good oral and written communication, and the physical ability to assist with wheelchairs and stairs.

Qualifications

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to assist with special needs students.
  • Positive attitude toward special needs students.

MINIMUM SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or its equivalency.
2. Possess effective communication skills; both oral and written.
3. Willingness to assist with the requirements of special needs students.
4. Possess a positive attitude toward special needs students.
5. Ability to lift and/or manipulate body weight of children – minimum weight 50 lbs.
6. Ability to climb stairs and lift/manipulate wheelchairs with students.
7. A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
8. Meets qualifications defined in the current Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation & Safety Rules, and School Board Policy.
