Job summary

Thermo King in Houston seeks full-time transport refrigeration technicians to perform preventive maintenance on trailers, trucks, and APUs while diagnosing basic refrigeration systems and wiring. You will install and remove Thermo King units, use laptops for work orders and diagrams, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.

The role requires at least a GED, 1 year of experience with TK certification in progress, a mechanical background, and own tools. Overtime and basic math skills are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience and TK certification in progress.
• Mechanical background and trade school or related education preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must have own tools: DVOM, refrigeration gauges, hand tools, power tools.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Comprehends basic refrigeration and 12VDC/ Ohm’s Law fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on trailers, trucks, and APUs.
• Basic refrigeration skills and diagnosis: leak check, recovery, evacuation, and charging.
• Replace components as needed such as belts, hoses, batteries, starters, and alternators.
• Basic electrical diagnostics using DVOM and related tools.
• Battery maintenance and diagnosis.
• Installation/removal of Thermo King refrigeration units.
• Use a laptop to read work orders, service documents, electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Housekeeping: keep work area, service bays, and toolbox clean and orderly.
• Follow safe working practices and wear PPE.
