Marathon Petroleum in Columbus OH is seeking a Transport Operations Supervisor to lead the safe, efficient hauling of light product. You will supervise drivers, coordinate scheduling, loading, and delivery while ensuring maintenance and regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, DOT knowledge, and hands-on involvement with fleet operations. On-call coverage 24/7 including holidays is required, with opportunities to contribute to safety programs and cost-effective fleet

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Three years of trucking, terminaling, logistics and/or oil and gas experience preferred; leadership experience valued.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise transport employees to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Direct day-to-day truck resource planning, scheduling, loading and delivery.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and vendor/terminal maintenance.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance including DOT rules and drug testing.
  • Audit onboard vehicle data and maintain cost tracking for fleet.
  • Be on call 24/7 for emergency incidents and safety programs.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of proprietary company light product hauling fleet. Supervises a team of drivers and directs the day-to-day activities of the Transport Operations as it relates to truck resource planning, scheduling, loading and delivering of bulk petroleum products to customers. Additionally, this role ensures Preventative Maintenance schedules are adhered to and coordinates equipment transfers to partner terminals or to third party mechanics for maintenance. Ensures regulatory compliance and is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides supervision, guidance and leadership to ensure that all Transport employees are accountable for safe, environmentally sound and compliant operations.
  • Maintains knowledge and provides direction regarding of compliance company and government policies (i.e. operations, personnel, DOT).
  • Manages and audits onboard vehicle computer data.
  • Ensures that driver reliability and availability meets agreed-to customer delivery needs.
  • Maintains close internal relationships with Transport scheduling, Terminal Operations, Marketing, and Supply Operations.
  • Maintains external relationships with third party loading terminal operations.
  • Ensures DOT compliance of Transport Operations (CDL w/ Hazmat, Random Drug Testing, Log Sheets (electronic & paper if required).
  • Documents/Reports/Escalates all H ESS incidents according to operations policies.
  • Develops and promotes Safety Awareness Programs, communications and reinforcement of corporate expectations, policies and Road Safety Standards.
  • Participates in and promotes I&O and community engagement programs.
  • Responsible for truck maintenance scheduling & coordination with both our internal and external mechanics/garages. This includes timely entry of invoices and other cost elements into maintenance cost systems for accurate fleet cost tracking.
  • Will be trained and expected to be first on scene for emergency incident response.
SPECIAL SKILLS
  • H ESS experience particularly with road safety management. Sound understanding of the motor carrier environment.
  • Familiar with laws and regulations governing proprietary Transport operations (DOT regulations).
  • Good oral and written and communications skills with all levels, especially with transport drivers.
  • Must be very comfortable with and have a solid grasp of moderate computer skills (MS Office Suite, Online Tools)
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver's License Required
  • Three (3) years of trucking, terminaling, logistics and/or oil and gas experience required
  • Leadership experience preferred
