Penn Medicine's Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA is seeking a dedicated Transport Coordinator for night shift. The role coordinates patient transfers and transports within LGH and Penn Medicine, ensuring accuracy and timely communication with clinical teams.

As a full-time, night-shift position, you will support intra-hospital transfers, EMS coordination, and occasional helicopter landing coordination, contributing to efficient patient flow and safe care delivery across Penn

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with scheduling, coordination activities, multitasking, familiar with basic medical nomenclature, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, closed loop communication.
• Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient transfers and transports between LGH entities.
• Coordinate with clinical departments across Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health (LGH).
• Receive Prehospital emergency medical reports and share pertinent information with ED staff.
• Coordinate helicopter landings at LGH.
• Maintain communication with EMS and divert/overcrowding status as needed.
• Coordinate intra Penn Medicine transfers and EMS response for perinatal events.

LOCATION:

Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA

SCHEDULE:

Full-time, night shift position (72 hours per 2-week pay period). Week 1 consists of 32 hours: Every other Saturday and Sunday weekend rotation.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordination of patient incoming and outgoing transfers and transports, outgoing Discharges, intra departmental patient transfers between LGH entities, coordination with clinical departments across Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health (LGH).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Receive Prehospital emergency medical reports and share pertinent clinical information with emergency department clinical staff/Emergency Department Charge Nurse.
• Receive Medical command calls and ensure timely connection with appropriate medical command provider.
• Coordinate outgoing patient transports ensuring efficiency, accuracy and with adherence to standard work.
• Communication to clinical areas upon EMS arrival for transports- Proactive approach to ensuring patient readiness prior to transports.
• Coordinates Helicopter landings at LGH.
• Updates established PA Medic with Hospital overcrowding and divert status alerts.
• Receives emergency clinical alert calls from LGH Suburban Outpatient Pavilion.
• Coordination center for intra Penn Medicine transfers in conjunction with the established Penn medicine transfer center.
• Coordinates EMS response/call for Perinatal emergency code alerts.
• Coordinates and communicates with Duke Street and or Women’s and Babies hospital supervisor as needed, IE informing of MCI events, communicating about Divert and or Overcrowding status.
• Communication with local emergency responders if internal incident exceeds internal capabilities, collaboration with emergency management team at LGH and or with Incident command structure when activated – HICS Standards.
• Maintain Taxi Voucher utilization.
• Participate in performance improvement and daily huddles to ensure transport efficiency is achieved

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• HS Diploma or GED
• Experience with scheduling, coordination activities, multitasking, familiar with basic medical nomenclature, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, closed loop communication

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s degree

No call required. Holidays worked only if they fall on a scheduled workday.
