Job summary

Messer is seeking a professional driver to safely transport and deliver Messer products (Helium and/or Hydrogen) in the United States. You will follow Smith System driving, comply with DOT rules, and perform loading and delivery duties with attention to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or 10 years’ experience current class CDL.
  • Minimum 1 year of driving experience.
  • Minimum 1 year driving experience with Hazardous Materials Endorsement on CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive Messer commercial motor vehicles exhibiting defensive driving using Smith System principles.
  • Work in accordance with all DOT and Messer standards and policies including Speed Management and Hours of Service.
  • Report to work rested and ensure rest breaks to prevent fatigue; use PPE in daily tasks.
  • Load product transfer, conduct quality analyses and document accordingly.
  • Deliver to customers, perform quality testing if required, assess delivery area risks and interface with customers.

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive Messer commercial motor vehicles exhibiting defensive driving using Smith System principles
  • Work in accordance with all DOT and Messer standards and policies including but not limited to Speed Management, Seat Belts, In Cab Communication, Cones and Hours of Service
  • Report to work properly rested and ensure rest breaks prevent fatigue; utilize all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all aspects of daily tasks
  • Perform all tasks required in loading including but not limited to product transfer, quality analysis/documentation and customer required certificate of analysis
  • Perform all tasks required in customer delivery including but not limited to product transfer, customer quality testing (if specifically required per local instruction), dynamic risk assessment of delivery area and customer interface
  • Participate in regulatory, Messer or site-specific training through classroom theory, practical assessment and Traccess folder completion; participate in safety talks and meetings
  • Report any incident involving equipment damage, near miss, first aid or medical treatment to supervisor
  • Daily completion and submission of written paperwork and electronic data through on-board recording device
  • Report deficiencies in Messer transport equipment, at risk customer locations and customer tube storage deficiencies including required documentation
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year driving experience with Hazardous Materials Endorsement on CDL

The salary for this position is $65,000-$90,000 annually with a $7,500 Sign on Bonus. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short term disability, life insurance and paid time off as well as other voluntary benefits, such as, long term disability in accordance with the terms and conditions of these Plans. Employees are eligible to enroll in Messer’s 401(k) Plan. Employees may be eligible to participate in the company’s bonus program.
