Job summary

Ohio Ambulance Solutions is seeking Transport Attendants to join the Mobility Assistance Department to provide safe, compassionate non-emergency transport for individuals with behavioral health, developmental, cognitive, mobility, or other specialized support needs.

This role is more than driving; you’ll help create a safe, respectful, and positive experience for every passenger while adhering to privacy requirements and coordinating with a team across facilities and caregivers.

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older.
  • Compassionate, patient, professional and dependable.
  • Comfortable with individuals who may have behavioral, developmental, cognitive, or emotional challenges.
  • Able to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Strong communicators and team players.
  • Able to use good judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Able to pass required background screening.
  • Willing and able to complete all required training.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe transportation and continuous passenger supervision.
  • Assist passengers entering/exiting vehicles and perform transfers when needed.
  • Treat every passenger with dignity, patience and respect.
  • Monitor behavior and de-escalate using approved verbal techniques when necessary.
  • Report medical, behavioral, safety, or operational concerns promptly.
  • Communicate with Dispatch, managers, facilities, caregivers and team members.
  • Complete transportation documentation and incident reports accurately.
  • Keep vehicles and equipment clean, safe, fueled and ready for service.
  • Complete required training and competency programs.
  • Support other Ohio Ambulance Solutions service lines as needed.

Ohio Ambulance Solutions is looking for Transport Attendants to join our Mobility Assistance Department. You’ll provide safe, compassionate, non-emergency transportation to individuals with behavioral health, developmental, cognitive, mobility, or other specialized support needs.

This is more than simply driving someone from one place to another. You’ll help create a safe, respectful, and positive experience for every passenger.

What You\'ll Do

What We\'re Looking For

You don\'t necessarily need previous healthcare or transportation experience. We’re looking for people who are:

  • 18 years or older

  • Comfortable working with individuals who may have behavioral, developmental, cognitive, or emotional challenges
  • Able to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • Strong communicators and team players
  • Able to use good judgment and make sound decisions
  • Able to pass required background screening
  • Willing and able to complete all required training

A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.

Required Certifications
  • Valid driver\'s license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • EVOC certification — provided by Ohio Ambulance Solutions
  • Any required municipal or company certifications
Experience That Will Make You Stand Out

Experience in medical or wheelchair transportation, behavioral health, developmental disabilities, direct care, crisis intervention, de-escalation, or working with special needs populations is a plus.

What You Can Expect

Our Transport Attendants work as part of a team to provide safe and compassionate transportation. Depending on passenger needs, vehicles may be staffed by one or two qualified team members.

You may work in healthcare facilities, residential settings, community locations, and company vehicles. This position may involve outdoor work, various weather conditions, and occasional extended or non-traditional hours. You must be able to physically assist passengers with entering, exiting, and transferring when needed.
