Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton in Milton, MA is hiring a full-time Transport Aide for the Evening shift to move patients between departments and to care areas. You will support patient comfort and safety during transfers and help with equipment logistics.

Responsibilities include documenting trips in Hospital Throughput, assisting patients in/out of beds or stretchers, transporting equipment, and communicating with RNs. A High School Diploma and ability to read/write English are required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from clinical areas and to appropriate care spaces.

• Communicate with RN or unit representatives before departure and after arrival.
• Ensure patient safety during transfers, including bed, chair, or stretcher movement.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient equipment after each trip and report issues.

This position also transports hospital equipment as needed for inpatient care.Job Description:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Responsible for documenting patient trip via Hospital Throughput computer program.2. Responsible for general transport of patients to and from clinical areas.3. Responsible for general transport/moving of patients as they go to and from patient care areas. This includes but is not limited to:– Assisting patients in and out of a bed/wheelchair.– Assisting patients on and off of a stretcher.– Assisting staff that need lifting help or help with sliding a patient from stretcher to a bed or care table.4. Responsible for the transportation of equipment under responsibility of Transport Department5. Responsible for utilizing mobile device to access Hospital Throughput Computer Program6. Responsible for obtaining a “Ticket to Ride” from the nurse, upon arrival to the patient's floor.7. Responsible for communicating with patient’s R.N. or unit representative before the patient departs from their room or as they arrive back to their room.8. Responsible for safely parking the bed/stretcher/wheelchair by utilize the braking system and lowering the patient's bed/stretcher before leaving the patient.9. Responsible for communicating with the patient regarding their arrival in a department.10. Responsible for communicating with the receiving department that the patient has arrived.11. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of patient equipment at the conclusion of each patient trip.12. Responsible for communicating equipment issues to Manager as well as creating a BioMed service request for service of broken equipment.May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager.Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.QUALIFICATIONSPREFERRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma or EquivalentMINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Not applicableOTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:Ability to read and write English.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.Demonstrate cooperation and ability to work as a team.Pay Range:$17.00 – $22.88The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.
