TRANSPLANT INFECTIOUS DISEASES PHYSICIAN - FACULTY OPPORTUNITY

Division of Infectious Diseases | Wayne State University School of Medicine

The Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSU SOM), Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Infectious Diseases physician with fellowship training or focused expertise in Transplant Infectious Diseases for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (rank commensurate with experience).

This position has a primary clinical focus at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, a nationally recognized NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, where the selected candidate will provide dedicated infectious diseases consultation for hematologic malignancy, stem cell transplant, cellular therapy, and other immunocompromised host populations. This recruitment reflects the program's continued growth and momentum. we are expanding our transplant ID faculty to meet increasing clinical demand and to deepen our academic and scholarly footprint in this area.

Academic and Scholarship Duties
  • Nurture the educational mission of the School of Medicine by teaching medical students, residents, and infectious diseases fellows across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Oversee or engage in clinical, translational, or health-systems research aligned with transplant infectious diseases, diagnostic stewardship, immunocompromised host infections, and clinical microbiology.
  • Unify multidisciplinary efforts by collaborating with oncology, hematology, microbiology, pharmacy, and population health partners to advance care for complex transplant populations.
  • Further the strategic development of transplant infectious diseases within the division through program building, protocol development, and academic contribution.

Dedicated mentorship and protected academic time may be available for candidates with defined scholarly interests.

Qualifications
