Job summary

AAMCO Transmissions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Automotive Transmission Rebuilder to diagnose, rebuild and repair transmission systems in our Portland-area center. You will explain complex repairs to customers and teammates, remove and reinstall transmissions, and support a fast-changing automotive technology landscape.

The role requires owning tools, a valid driver’s license, and strong problem-solving abilities; ASE certifications are a plus and ongoing training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience as an Automotive Transmission Rebuilder.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Own professional grade tools.
• Experience with mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair specific to transmission rebuilding.
• Able to communicate solutions to others.
• ASE certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, rebuild and repair automotive transmission systems to specifications; knowledge of electrical and computer systems is a plus.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include other teammates and customers as required.
• Remove and reinstall transmission systems.
• Assist other technicians in performing technical activities.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques through informal training to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
• Keeps store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintains an organized service department.
