Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, seeks a Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the structural design and analysis of transmission and substation systems. You will perform calculations, modeling, and retrofitting of towers and substation structures, supplying drawings and specs according to industry standards.

The role requires a PE license and 4+ years’ experience, with expertise in PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE/STAAD/RISA, and LPILE/MFAD/HFAD/TFAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in transmission/substation structural engineering.
• Experience with lattice towers, monopoles, wood poles, or specialty structures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (PLS‑TOWER, PLS‑POLE, STAAD, RISA).
• Proficiency in foundation design software (LPILE, MFAD, HFAD, TFAD) and Mathcad/Excel

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis of transmission and substation structures.
• Evaluate and retrofit existing lattice towers, including capacity assessments and reinforcements.
• Design and analyze substation structures and dead-end structures.
• Prepare calculations, drawings and specs per ASCE/AISC/ACI/IEEE/NESC.
• Model and analyze using PLS‑TOWER, PLS‑POLE, STAAD or RISA.
• Design drilled shafts, spread footings, anchors and embedded foundations.
• Review vendor calculations and drawings; coordinate with teams.
• Support field activities and assist in project proposals and deliverables.
