Job summary

U-Haul in Kansas City, MO is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to inspect vehicles, diagnose issues, and perform engine overhauls and repairs using appropriate equipment.

You will maintain safety, communicate effectively, and collaborate with the team to deliver reliable service. A high school diploma, valid driver's license, and automotive service/diagnostic experience are required; veterans are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles.
• Automotive service experience.
• Automotive diagnostic maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts.
• Overhaul and repair engines or motors; disassemble engines and repair or replace defective parts; reassemble engines and make adjustments as needed; use oxygen-acetylene, electro arc-welding or similar types of equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, maintain and repair engines, and oil and lubricate engine and chassis.
• Install timing gears, crankshafts, bearings, cylinders, and drive systems.
• Must have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Team Members are expected to willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.

• Adhere to all local state (provincial) and federal vehicular regulations while driving
• Automotive Service Experience.
• Automotive Diagnostic Maintenance Experience.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
