Job summary

MGB Manufacturing, LLC, a Wilks Brothers company, is seeking a Transmission Service Technician I to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild heavy‑duty transmissions. You will monitor processes, diagnose transmission issues, and perform preventative maintenance in a shop and field environment.

You must have at least two years of transmission mechanic experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of experience as a transmission mechanic.
• Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be proficient in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs various brands of transmissions.
• Performs basic mechanical work functions including troubleshooting and maintenance on transmissions.
• Assists other technicians with repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Effectively communicates with customers, co-workers, and management.

Position Summary: The Transmission Service Technician I is responsible for the diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding of heavy-duty transmissions.

• Monitors, evaluates, and adjusts processes or equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.
• Diagnoses and repairs various brands of transmissions.
• Performs basic mechanical work functions that include troubleshooting, repairing, preventative maintenance on transmissions.
• Assists other technicians with performing repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Effectively communicates with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Follows all company policies and procedures.
• Attends training classes as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

• Must have at least two years of experience as a transmission mechanic.
• Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be capable of performing complex repairs correctly and safely in a shop and field environment.
• Must be able to complete service jobs, as required, in a timely manner.
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
• Must be able to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Must be proficient in the English language.
• Must have knowledge of oil field and engine equipment.

Working Conditions:

• Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
• The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
• Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
• Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
• React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
• Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
• Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
