The Solution

Paces is building the development engine for renewable infrastructure and power projects. We have built Agentic AI that automates early‑stage due diligence and pairs it with in‑house expertise to accelerate late‑stage diligence. The result: projects move from siting to construction‑ready in a fraction of the time. Our platform streamlines siting, interconnection, and permitting for renewable energy and data center developers, real‑estate firms, EV charging companies, and more.

Paces is growing rapidly and is looking for an exceptional Transmission Planning or Power Engineer to join our Solutions Engineering team, reporting directly to the Head of Success and Solutions.

What You’ll Achieve

• Perform and interpret bulk transmission and interconnection analysis using commercial power flow software to pinpoint the best places to connect to the grid.
• Perform and review transmission planning, power flow, and stability studies using commercial tools (PSSE, TARA, PSLF, PSCAD, etc.) and guide teammates on best practices.
• Evaluate transmission system dynamics under high penetrations of renewables.
• Develop technically supported study assumptions using the best available data and grid‑upgrade datasets.
• Assess the technical and commercial viability of new generation and large load projects by forecasting upgrade costs.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to develop software solutions that enhance power system analysis at scale.
• Apply and expand expertise in power systems and interconnection processes across different utilities and ISOs.
• Serve as the domain expert within Paces to shape internal methodologies and inform product development.
• Generalize power system principles and utility processes into scalable software applications and proprietary datasets.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in power system studies, transmission planning, or interconnection engineering at a consultant, developer, ISO/RTO, or utility.
• Deep familiarity with generator interconnection modeling in at least one major ISO/RTO (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO, WECC).
• Proven ability to run and interpret power flow, stability, and upgrade cost studies; proficiency with tools such as PSSE, TARA, PSLF, PSCAD.
• Strong quantitative skills and an instinct for spotting flawed assumptions.
• Experience mentoring or reviewing junior engineers.
• Comfortable presenting results directly to external stakeholders.
• Experience scripting or automation (Python, MATLAB, etc.) to improve workflows.
