Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Transmission Line Project Manager to lead high‑voltage and EHV transmission line projects across multiple states, including Missouri. You will oversee technical, scheduling, quality, and financial aspects, develop client relationships, and market WSP’s Power Delivery services.

Occasional travel to client and WSP offices is required. The role requires 7+ years in project management within Power Delivery/Utility, with hands‑on experience in engineering services and supervising

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • 7+ years post‑education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience providing engineering services for IOUs, IPPs, Co‑Ops, Munis, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading engineering or construction teams on high‑voltage or extra‑high‑voltage transmission line projects.
  • Proficiency with contract management, team meetings, earned value management, change management, risk management, schedule management (including Primavera P6 or equivalent), and financial management.
  • Deep understanding of project delivery processes in the Power Delivery/Utility industry and strong project management background.

Responsibilities

  • Provide PM leadership for projects of varying scale including detailed design, budgeting, forecasting, risks, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop strategies to engage stakeholders, maintain relationships, and report on progress.
  • Provide guidance on pursuit and initiation activities, including go/no‑go decisions, contract reviews, risk mitigation, and pricing reviews.
  • Participate or lead contract negotiations and client presentations.
  • Drive technical reviews, select qualified staff, and ensure QA/QC compliance.
  • Provide written and verbal input to multidisciplinary teams and give strategic advice to clients.
  • Lead and provide guidance to project staff.
  • Maintain documentation of risk, project management plan, quality plan, safety plan, and communications plan.

Job Description

WSP is seeking a Transmission Line Project Manager for states including Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, Idaho, and Texas. The successful candidate will manage technical, scheduling, quality, and financial aspects of power and energy transmission line projects, develop and maintain client relationships, and market WSP’s Power Delivery services to existing and new clients. Travel to WSP and client offices for periodic face‑to‑face meetings is required.

This Opportunity

Project management for the development, execution, control, and monitoring of high voltage and EHV transmission line projects. Responsibilities span the project lifecycle from proposal through closeout, ensuring adherence to quality and delivery standards and providing innovative and pragmatic direction for management challenges.

Your Impact
  • Provide PM leadership for projects of varying scale including detailed design, budgeting, forecasting, risks, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop strategies to engage stakeholders, maintain relationships, and report on progress.

  • Coordinate with technical managers on resource and subcontracting requirements.
  • Maintain regular client communication reporting status, safety incidents, scope and budget impacts.
  • Participate in problem reviews, root‑cause analysis, and develop recovery plans.
  • Provide regular reporting to clients, departments, and business managers on emergent issues.
  • Complete formal closeout activities and facilitate lessons‑learned meeting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals for trusted advisor service and future‑ready solutions.
  • Apply responsible decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • 7+ years post‑education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility industry.

  • Excellent self‑leadership, detail orientation, multitasking, and adaptability.
  • Independent leadership of mid‑ to senior‑level team with QA/QC adherence.
  • Technical writing and proficiency with MS Office suite, Visio, Project, SharePoint, and other PM tools.
  • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Track record of safety compliance and adherence to health, safety, and anti‑harassment policies.
  • Adaptability to changing schedules and hours to meet project needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Project management certification such as PMP or CAP‑M.
  • PE license.

Compensation

Expected salary range: $120,000 – $160,000 (all locations). Compensation may be higher or lower based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
