Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transmission Line Project Engineer in Irvine, CA. The role involves performing PLS-CADD analyses, leading design teams to develop complete construction packages for transmission line projects, and mentoring junior engineers.

You will coordinate with multiple disciplines and ensure code compliance and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate holds a PE license, a Bachelor's in Engineering, and 3+ years in power project execution, with proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, Revit, Plant

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or eligible.
  • 3+ years in project execution within the Power Market Sector.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options.
  • Lead design teams to develop and complete full construction packages for transmission line projects.
  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team through schematic design and contract document phases.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.

In the role of Transmission Line Project Engineer, we'll count on you to:
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options.
  • Perform PLS-CADD modelingr calculations and analyses.
  • Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
  • Perform routine to moderately complex engineering and design tasks.
  • Lead design teams to develop and complete full construction packages for transmission line projects.
  • Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
  • Train and mentor junior and entry level engineers.
  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate workload to complete deliverables on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Conduct QA/QC QC for transmission projects
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Familiarity with NESC and GO 95 codes.Familiarity with PLS-TOWER and/or SAPS modules of PLS-CADD
  • Previous experience with utility industry or engineering consulting firms desired.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software. (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
