Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Transmission Engineer to design high and extra-high voltage transmission lines (69-500kV) using PLS-CADD, prepare construction documents, and provide field support during construction. The role involves building strong client relationships and guiding junior staff on complex projects.

The ideal candidate has ABET-accredited engineering degrees, 3+ years of transmission experience, and strong communication skills. Occasional travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related ABET-accredited program with 3 years of transmission engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology with FE exam and 3 years of transmission engineering experience.
• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years of transmission engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design of high and extra-high voltage (69-500kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
• Prepare construction documents, including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation assembly drawings.
• Prepare specifications and project design criteria.
• Provide field support during construction.
• Build and maintain client relationships and provide technical leadership to staff.

Transmission Engineer - Transmission Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of transmission engineering experience required. Consulting preferred or
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of transmission engineering experience required. Consulting preferred or
• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and 2 years of transmission engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
• Strong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong computer skills (e.g,. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, transmission analysis programs.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.

• The ideal candidate will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients as well as provide technical leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
• Experience in HVDC is a plus.
• Occasional travel to client and project locations will be expected.
