Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Transmission Engineer to help shape the design, analysis, and delivery of high‑voltage transmission projects. You will work across the lifecycle from concept to construction, leading design reviews and coordinating with clients in a hybrid Phoenix environment.

Ideal candidates have a PE license, a background in Power Market project execution, and proficiency with PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software such as PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit.

• Prepare all technical aspects and deliverables for transmission lines design using PLS-CADD and foundation design software.
• Coordinate construction release packages including plans, profiles, load trees, assemblies, and bills of material.
• Assign tasks and guide junior team members and coordinate quality reviews for EITs and Designers.
• Identify and implement learning opportunities for EITs and Designers.
• Perform quality control reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
• Provide engineering input on project design issues and questions.
• Conduct engineering analyses to develop design options.
• Assist with cost estimates or specifications.
• Attend client stakeholder meetings and lead design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all technical aspects and deliverables associated with the conceptual and detailed transmission lines design using PLS-CADD and foundation design software such as L-Pile or Caisson.
• Coordinate the preparation of construction release packages for high voltage transmission lines, including plan and profiles, structure load trees, structure assemblies and details, stringing charts, foundation schedules, and bills of material.
• Assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members and coordinate quality control reviews for work performed by EITs and Designers.
• Identify and implement learning opportunities for EITs and Designers through methods such as job shadowing, assigning specific project tasks, and knowledge sharing sessions.
• Perform quality control reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
• Provide engineering input on specific project design issues and questions.
• Conduct engineering analyses to develop design options.
• Assist with preparation of cost estimates or specifications.
• Attend client stakeholder meetings and lead design reviews with clients.
• Provide input to the development of project manhours estimates and task schedules.
• Effectively manage multiple tasks for multiple projects, keeping schedule and budget in mind.
• Perform site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects, including participating in field reviews or construction observation.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software such as PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit.
• Commitment to being an active participant in a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to developing project manhour and cost estimates, and schedules.
• Experience in foundation design using software like L-Pile or Caisson.
• Experience working with renewables developers and/or the interconnection of renewables is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to continue learning and growing.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work environment, with 2 or 3 days in the office and 2 or 3 days remote. The role is available in locations such as Phoenix, Tucson, and Albuquerque, NM. Join a large company that provides opportunities for growth, including bonuses and company stock.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
