Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager in Phoenix, AZ to support the Construction PM, EPC PM, Site Manager, and engineers in day-to-day project management across multiple industries including aviation, commercial, energy, and water. You will help manage safety, quality, schedule, cost, contracts, subcontractors, and field activities on diverse EPC projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 3 years relevant construction experience required.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in the industries of aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water is preferred.
  • A basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Must be able to meet the company's driving requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety programs and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to build client relationships.
  • Assist in risk reviews and consult with Legal as required.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of execution, QA, safety, and procurement plans.
  • Support negotiation and execution of contracts and change orders.
  • Develop project plan for site mobilization and demobilization.
  • Ensure project permits are secured.
  • Assist with bidder registration and pre-qualification.
  • Prepare RFPs and contract documents for subcontractor selection.
  • Support implementation of project specifications and design changes.
  • Coordinate invoicing processes and project cost reporting.
  • Maintain project documentation and filing systems.
  • Verify insurances, licenses, taxes, and securities.
  • Support safety, quality, progress and financial audits.
  • Manage materials receiving and inventory control.
  • Verify subcontractor compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Support project turnover documentation and closeout processes.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with craft labor agreements and onboarding.
  • Analyze labor costs and staffing needs.
  • Monitor craft classifications and progression records.
  • Support craft training and equipment management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
