Job summary

FTI Defense - Frontier Technology Inc. is seeking transitioning Navy Sailors to join a team delivering software, data, and AI centric solutions for the Navy safety mission. The role involves collaborating with Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Navy customers to prototype, test, and deploy applications.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on software development and data engineering experience, with DoD Secret clearance and readiness to work in Norfolk, VA. Final interviews are in person.

Qualifications

• Recently transitioned or currently transitioning Navy service member with relevant technical experience.
• DoD Secret clearance.
• Candidates must be in the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Area.
• Hands on experience in software development, programming, data engineering, automation, or related technical work.
• Experience using Python, R, C#, Angular or comparable languages/frameworks.
• Experience with data, software solutions, automation, or solving problems in operational environments.
• Familiarity with modular programming, functions, classes, packages, source control, testing, debugging, or data transformation.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and collaborate with both technical and nontechnical teammates.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software applications and solutions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and support data transformation activities.
• Analyze existing code, troubleshoot problems, identify errors, and improve applications.
• Participate in the software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Navy customers to prototype and deploy solutions.
• Help transition AI/analytic models into operational applications and workflows.
• Develop modular functions, classes, and reusable components.
• Use Git and modern source control practices with other developers.
• Support automated testing and quality checks to improve reliability.
• Contribute to dashboard development, data visualization, and customer-facing analytics.
