Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Transit Planning Intern to join our Columbus, Ohio team. This internship begins May 2027 and offers exposure to transit planning, GIS data analysis, mapping, and reports under supervision of senior staff.

You will assist with planning studies, data collection, and GIS analyses, while developing skills in ArcGIS, data visualization, and stakeholder communication within a leading infrastructure firm.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in GIS, Planning, Urban Design, or related field with at least two years of study completed.
• Recent grads eligible if continuing to a Master's degree in the same discipline.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop transportation projects with supervision.
• Support planning studies and reports for new and updated plans and programs.
• Collect statistics and prepare reports and maps (census, land use, crashes, assets).
• Utilize GIS to analyze data and prepare maps for reports.
• Conduct concept-level evaluation of transportation improvements.
• Document and present findings on transportation planning projects.
• Research current transportation topics at local, state, and federal levels.
• Assist with other duties assigned by senior staff or Project Managers.
