Job summary

MV Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Manager in Irvine, CA to oversee day-to-day maintenance for a fixed-route bus operation, ensuring contractual duties are met and schedules are followed.

You will manage a maintenance budget, generate routine reports, and ensure vehicles are inspected, maintained, and repaired with minimal downtime. A strong background in transit vehicle maintenance and applicable certifications is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum six years journey-level mechanic experience with strong knowledge of gasoline engines, electrical and hydraulic systems and maintenance software.
• Minimum three years supervising a maintenance operation with 20+ mechanics and demonstrated managerial and training abilities.
• Valid California Class A/B/C driver’s license as appropriate, medical certificate, and any required licenses/certifications.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent experience acceptable to AUTHORITY.
• ASE automotive and/or truck certifications, preferably ASE Master Certification.
• Prior experience in public transit vehicle maintenance.
• Experience in passenger transportation in current project or similar environment preferred.
• Must be able to manage and interface with client.
• Must track and control parts inventories, vendors and suppliers.
• Must prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects and assignments.
• Must manage financial/accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.
• Must communicate effectively with all levels of staff; strong written and oral skills.
• Must have computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must have technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
• Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, candor and tact.
• ASE or manufacture’s certifications a plus.
• Technical experience with fixed route transit bus maintenance.
• Solid knowledge of audits and PM schedules.
• Experience with Diesel, CNG, and Alternative fuels a plus.
• CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day maintenance aspects of this fixed-route bus operation and ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Prepare and analyze daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance reports and manage a maintenance budget.
