Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) seeks a skilled Electro-Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain light rail vehicles and related electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Under general supervision, you will perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, soldering, harnessing, and troubleshooting, using shop tools and testing equipment; weekend and odd hours may be required.

Candidates should have high school diploma with four years of transit maintenance experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with four years of maintenance experience on electrically powered rail transit vehicles.
• Alternative: two-year electronic technology degree with two years of electro-mechanical work on transit vehicles.
• Experience with AC/DC electrical systems and troubleshooting of transit vehicle electronics is required.

Responsabilités

• Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections of vehicles, systems and equipment.
• Document defects, maintenance and repairs.
• Test, maintain, repair and overhaul light rail vehicle electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment and tools.
• Make time and material cost estimates and maintain records.
• Possibly train lower-level staff and oversee related tasks.
• Perform related work as required.
