Position Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Rutgers RWJMS invites applications for a faculty position in the Division of Transfusion Medicine. The Division provides services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) – a 650‑bed tertiary care teaching hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Position Highlights

• Provide transfusion medicine and blood banking services across Rutgers, RWJUH, and RWJBarnabas Health partners
• Deliver complex transfusion consultations, stem cell collection and infusion, cellular therapy (adult and pediatric), apheresis, and support for complex coagulation conditions
• Collaborate with institutional leadership, physician colleagues, and nursing teams to ensure high‑quality patient care
• Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and departmental conferences and grand rounds
• Contribute to departmental quality initiatives and process improvements
• Promote the program regionally and nationally at academic conferences
• Participate in call coverage as assigned by the Chair of Pathology
• Engage in scholarly and research activities

Requirements

• MD, DO, or MBBS degree required
• Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey
• Upon hire, must be eligible to obtain a CDS and/or DEA if required
• Board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
• Board certification in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology
