Responsibilities

• Assist with teardown and prep of transformers for transport or disposal.
• Identify and fix basic wiring and mechanical issues.
• Complete tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule.
• Inspect tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment for safe operation.
• Follow safety protocols and PPE requirements in noisy, elevated environments.
• Support sales by reporting project opportunities and potential customer leads.

Job description

We’re looking for Transformer Technicians who are interested in starting or growing their careers working on equipment that helps keep power running across the country. In this hands‑on role, you’ll travel to substations, power plants, and industrial sites to inspect, maintain, and repair power transformers. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, replace components, perform routine service, and support customers in a safety‑focused environment. This is a great opportunity to build valuable skills, work on important infrastructure projects, and enjoy consistent travel‑based work throughout the continental United States.

What You’ll Do:

• Assemble transformer components such as radiators, bushings, and conservators
• Perform degassing, pressure, and vacuum testing using dehydrator units
• Re‑gasket units and fabricate gaskets or O‑rings when needed
• Assist with teardown and preparation of transformers for transport or disposal
• Identify and resolve basic wiring and mechanical issues
• Complete assigned tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule
• Inspect and operate tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safely
• Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements when working near noise, electrical hazards, and at elevated heights
• Support the sales team by reporting project opportunities and potential customer leads

The Experience We’re Looking For:

• Up to three years of experience in transformer oil processing, service, or assembly
• At least one year of transformer testing experience (TTR, winding resistance)
• Experience changing repairing and changing gaskets, bushings and auxiliary component change outs
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and online platforms
• Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to follow instructions
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently while meeting team objectives

Additional Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must successfully complete a background check and pre‑employment/random drug tests
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Availability for extended or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays
• Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights exceeding 100 feet, operate in confined spaces, and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good vision, hearing, and English proficiency to ensure safe and effective communication in noisy environments

Bonus Points for:

• Experience with transformer oil filtration, testing, or disassembly
• Possession of a Class A CDL, OSHA training, or a TWIC card
• Holding a DOT medical certification
• Familiarity with transformer components, control wiring, or oil filtration
• Experience using shop equipment, electrical tools, or test platforms
• Knowledge of transformer teardown or disposal preparation procedures
• Previous work experience with energized equipment or substations
