Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a Transformer Technician to inspect, test, and repair transformers, substations, and cabinets. The role includes gasket replacements, radiator and bushing work, and operating oil processing equipment.

Travel is required, including occasional international trips, with a strong emphasis on safety. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of related experience, knowledge of transformer oil processing, and familiarity with Doble test equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience.
• 3+ years related experience in transformer maintenance or oil processing.
• Knowledge of transformer oil processing and insulation.
• Experience with Doble test equipment is desirable.
• NETA Certification or equivalent skills preferred to pursue certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic PC skills; PowerDB is a plus.
• Safety training such as OSHA 30 hour and related programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test, repair leaks and replace gaskets on transformers.
• Repair and replace radiators, bushings and components on transformers, substations and cabinets with OCBs.
• Conduct internal inspections and repairs on automatic load tap changers.
• Run a vacuum dehydrator and perform oil processing filtering or replacement.
