Job summary

Mandan Public School District is seeking a School Counselor to support students across academic, career, and personal/social development within the Mandan Public Schools. The counselor will provide individual and group counseling, guide course selections, collaborate with families and staff, and connect students with community resources to promote a successful educational experience.

Requires ND School Counseling certification and a teaching license; master's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold appropriate certification in School Counseling from the ND Department of Public Instruction and a teaching license from the ND Education and Practice Board.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term individual counseling to students.
• Assist students with curriculum, career, and scholarship opportunities.
• Lead small group counseling sessions for social and emotional concerns as needed.
• Guide each student to choose courses consistent with interests, abilities, and career plans.
• Consult with parents and teachers regarding a student's social, emotional, academic, or behavioral concerns.
• Help students develop post-secondary educational, military or workforce plans.
• Refer students and parents to community agencies and services for extra help and support.
• Consult with and serve as a resource for students, staff and parents regarding planning or promoting programs which enhance the academic, social, or emotional growth of students.
• Support additional needs of the school and other duties as assigned.
