Athens Services is seeking a Transfer Driver in California to safely transport cargo to and from designated sites using a walking floor truck-trailer system. The role requires adherence to DOT regulations and company policies while servicing routes efficiently.

Responsibilities include loading and securing cargo, performing inspections, tarping and sweeping the trailer, and handling winter conditions such as snow removal and chains. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and clean driving record.
• Able to meet all DOT requirements and provide safe, reliable service.
• Excellent customer service and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Daily driving to specific landfills or routes.
• Secure cargo and maneuver in tight spaces with care.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete forms.
• Tarps trailers to prevent debris; manual cranking may be required.
• Climb into the trailer to sweep residue after dumping.
• Winter duties include snow shoveling and chain deployment as needed.
• Change tires on both truck and trailer when required.
• Maintain a safe, clean vehicle; report unsafe conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned; overtime may be required.

Summary

The Transfer Driver is responsible for safely transporting cargo to and from pre-designated sites based on daily routing information. A walking floor truck-trailer combination is used to transport trash, green waste, C&D (wood, asphalt, and roof shingles). This position is responsible for efficiently servicing assigned locations, while complying with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and with Company policies.

Job Description

• Daily driving to specific landfills, depending on weather conditions.
• Properly secures cargo and maneuvers vehicle in and around tight corners and around high pedestrian traffic.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle/equipment, and complete necessary forms.
• Tarp trailer to ensure no trash flies out. Manual cranking of device will be needed.
• Climb and get in back of trailer to sweep out residue of trash remaining in truck after dumping trash.
• Winter time, will need to shovel snow. Put chains on truck depending on road conditions.
• Change tires of both trailer and truck, as needed.
• Maintains a safe and clean working vehicle.
• Reports any unsafe situations to direct supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• At least 2 years of driving experience.

Physical/Environmental Demands:

• Physical: Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously. Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously. Eye/hand coordination, handling, & wrist motion continuously. Bending, reaching, stretching, frequently, and lifting ≤ 50 Lbs. frequently.
• Environmental: Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, & noise continuously. Works outside only.

Salary

Salary: $31.91 - $35.41 hourly

Schedule

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 6:30 am - 3:30 pm and Saturdays based on operational needs
