Moon Valley Nurseries is hiring a transfer driver to transport landscaping merchandise from local farms to retail nurseries in California. This non-CDL role is full-time and based in Gilroy, CA. You will contribute to safe deliveries and excellent customer service while adhering to company policies.

NO CDL REQUIRED. The position offers hourly pay in the $20–$30 range, with potential for growth in a growing North American nursery operation that values safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Clean driving record with DOT drug & health screen required.
• Experience in retail, nursery, landscaping, or related environment preferred.
• Solid management skills with basic HR and sales understanding.
• Understanding of plants, landscaping, and customer service.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently driving a flatbed truck (non CDL) with inventory, equipment, and tools.
• Overseeing and participating in customer and nursery delivery operations.
• Provide outstanding customer service and maintain product knowledge during visits.
• Ensure compliance with MVN policies through crew management and coaching.

Job Summary

Moon Valley Nurseries is hiring a transfer driver to transport our landscaping merchandise from our local farms to our retail nurseries located in California. NO CDL REQUIRED

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently driving a flatbed truck (non CDL) with inventory, equipment, and tools.
• Overseeing and participating in customer and nursery delivery operations.
• Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a safe, clean, friendly DNP visit to customers, while maintaining solid product knowledge and an outstanding customer experience.
• Ensuring compliance with MVN policies and procedures through crew management, training & coaching.
• Continually evaluating and reacting to performance issues and conducting performance reviews.
• Ensuring that crews are professional, ethical, safe and effective at all times.
• Ensuring all equipment, including the trucks, are properly used, maintained, and cleaned.
• Reviewing and implementing Installation Work Orders and maximizing effectiveness and efficiency.
• Meeting productivity and performance goals by training, motivating, mentoring, and providing feedback.
• Ensuring the protection and proper use of MVN trucks, inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Maintaining outstanding truck cleanliness and condition standards.
• Dealing with all issues that arise from crews or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.)
• Being a shining example of good behavior and high performance and the customer-face of MVN.
• Conducting or overseeing all crew safety training including, heat, vehicle, equipment, ergonomics, etc.
• Maintaining the Truck’s supplies and materials stock.
• Assisting in any logistics/customer service issues that arise.
• Performing other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Clean driving record (with DOT drug & health screen) insurable with MVN’s insurers required.
• Experience in a retail, nursery, landscaping, or related environment preferred.
• Solid management skills along with a basic understanding of HR and sales fundamentals.
• Understanding of plants, planting, project management, landscaping, and customer service.
• Excellent customer relation and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-directed and motivated, and able to act in an entrepreneurial fashion.
• Ability to work independently to complete specific tasks and meet inflexible deadlines.
• Aptitude in decision-making and problem solving.
• Ability to work well with others and be a leader.
• Basic computer skills including experience with GPS and POS systems.
• Strong time management, attention to detail, and follow through.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects/activities simultaneously.

Physical requirements/Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Able to work outdoors or extended periods of time in possible extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.

OTHER

Subject to MVR and criminal background check. Frequent travel required.
