Qualifications

Training Specialist I: Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 5 (Salaried)

Training Specialist II: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 6 (Salaried)

Position Description:

The Training Specialist II works within the University of Louisville’s Employee Success Center in Human Resources to design, develop, facilitate, and evaluate professional development and training programs for faculty and staff. The position supports the University’s strategic talent management and employee development initiatives through professional development, leadership and supervision training, and culture-building programs. The Training Specialist II works collaboratively with Human Resources teams, HR Business Partners, academic and administrative leaders, and subject-matter experts to assess organizational learning needs and develop relevant, engaging training programs for adult learners across the University. The position supports training delivered in person, virtually, and in hybrid formats on the Belknap and Health Sciences campuses and uses learning technology and Microsoft 365 tools to support program delivery, administration, and evaluation. There are two (2) positions available. Positions will be filled at the Training Specialist I or Training Specialist II level based on candidate qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops, and facilitates professional development courses, workshops, and cohort-based learning programs for faculty and staff.
  • Conducts training needs assessments and identifies learning and skill-development needs across University departments.
  • Develops, revises, and maintains training curricula, instructional materials, presentations, lesson plans, and other learning resources.
  • Partners with HR teams, HR Business Partners, academic and administrative leaders, and subject-matter experts to develop customized training programs.
  • Facilitates engaging learning experiences for diverse groups of adult learners using appropriate instructional and facilitation methods.
  • Uses learning management systems and Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, PowerPoint, Forms, SharePoint, and Planner, to support training delivery and administration.
  • Coordinates and supports virtual, hybrid, and in-person learning events.
  • Maintains accurate training records and documentation and prepares reports related to training participation and outcomes.
  • Evaluates training programs and uses data and participant feedback to assess effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Supports the administration, implementation, and continuous improvement of Employee Success Center training programs and processes.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises appropriate discretion when handling Human Resources information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, PowerPoint, Forms, SharePoint, and Planner, and experience using or administering learning management systems.
  • Program Evaluation: Ability to maintain accurate records, analyze training information, evaluate program effectiveness, and use findings to support continuous improvement.
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to providing responsive, high-quality service to faculty, staff, leaders, and organizational partners.
  • Professionalism and Discretion: Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive Human Resources information.

The Employee Success Center is a flexible working environment, with opportunities to work remotely at times with supervisor approval.

Target Compensation Maximum: $81,529.00 Target Compensation Minimum: $54,318.00 Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
