Job summary

Acuity International is recruiting for a Protective Security Specialist to train U.S. contractors on weapons refresher training and to schedule and conduct required daily, weekly, and monthly training. Instruction occurs in classrooms and on the range, with potential support to protection teams in austere environments.

The role supports Department of State Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders. Candidates must be U.S.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Minimum 2 years as an instructor in a security field.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a FTE firearms instructor; this experience must be from government training.
• Minimum 5 years in protective security assignments.
• At least 2 years supervisory or in-charge experience.
• At least 6 months of protective security experience under WPS III or predecessor.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
• Must have a valid U.S. passport with at least 6 months remaining.
• Must be proficient in spoken/written English.
• Must pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT).

Responsibilities

• Conduct training for WPS III personnel.
• Coordinate and conduct refresher training and firearms re-qualifications for WPS III personnel.
• A bio-approved TI may fill the position/labor category of the Protective Security Specialist (PSS) as required with CO or COR approval.

Primary Function

You would be responsible for training U.S. contractors on weapons systems refresher training, as well as scheduling and conducting required daily, weekly, and monthly training. You would conduct instruction in both classroom environments and on the range. Additionally, you may be tasked to support protection teams as needed. This position supports Department of State Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders in austere environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct training for WPS III personnel.
• Coordinate and conduct refresher training and firearms re-qualifications for WPS III personnel.
• A bio-approved TI is authorized to fill the position/labor category of the Protective Security Specialist (PSS) as required and with the approval of the CO or COR.

Job Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must possess a minimum of (2) years as an instructor in a security field.
• Must possess a minimum of one (1) year experience working as a FTE firearms instructor; this experience must have been earned as part of other federal, state, or local government training assignments.
• Must possess a minimum of five (5) years' experience in protective security assignments.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or in-charge capacity.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of this experience must have been in protective security under WPS III or any of its predecessor contracts
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
• Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
• Applicants must pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT) in order to advance in the application process for the position.

Training (Paid Training)

• Attend and successfully complete the DOS Protective Security Specialist Basic, Quick Reaction Force, and Basic Field Firearms Officer's training courses. If already completed and/or served on a DOS TO within the last 3 years, must pass a weapon and PRT requalification course on TO.
• Qualify with the Glock-19, M4 or MK18 as specified by the designated TO, M240, and M249.
• Complete the WPS III PRT.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
• Must be able to walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate mission-essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
• Must be able to operate and/or travel in vehicles on improved and unimproved roadways, as well as off-road.
• Must be physically able to carry and operate firearms.
• Must maintain physical fitness readiness that includes, but is not limited to: medium and/or long-distance running, bench presses, agility runs, push-ups, sit-ups, and stretching.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
• Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy. Must be able to travel long distances in airplanes, helicopters, and road vehicles.
